  • LOCATION: Located in the southeastern part of the island, it is about 16.5km off Chora.
  • ACCESS: Reaching Kolymbithra take the road uphill to the right, turn left into the dirt road
    and after passing the Apothikes beach you end up in Ag.Fylaktos. You need to leave your
    car in the street and walk downhill to the beach. Map

  • Small beach just for "a handful of friends"

  • LOCATION: Located in the southeastern part of the island, it is about 5.5 km from Chora.
  • ACCESS: From Chora go up Avenue Alavanos and at the junction, choose the right fork of
    the road and follow the signs. The beach is served by bus. Map
  • MORPHOLOGY: Sand and pebbles, shallow, natural shade from trees.
  • ORGANIZED: No
  • CROWD INFO: Busy in August
  • WEATHER: Lee in most wind conditions

Tips

  • The church of St. Sostis dating from the 19th century.
  • Fun for the kids diving off the pier.

Secrets

  • LOCATION: Located in the SW part of the island, about 12km away from the town.
  • ACCESS: On the main road of the island towards Pyrgos, turn left at the sign for Agios
    Romanos and in approximately 3km distance you reach the beach. Alternatively, you
    can follow the coast road and after Kionia on your left a dirt road for 3.5 miles before 
    you get to Agios Romanos. Map
  • MORPHOLOGY: Sand and pebble, natural shade from trees
  • ORGANIZED: No
  • CROWD INFO: Busy
  • WEATHER: Relatively calm

Tips

  • At the point where the road ends there is the chapel of St. Romanos.
  • In the same area (on the left end of the beach) there is a small port that can
    accommodate small boats.

Secrets

  • LOCATION: Located in  the southwestern part of the island, it is about 15km from the town
    center
  • ACCESS: Just before Kardiani you turn left to Ormos Kardiani-Giannakis and follow the
    dirt road on the left leading to the beach. It is a 2km distance but at the end of the road 
    you will need to walk for a few minutes to reach the coast. Map
  • MORPHOLOGY: Fine sand - pebble, shallow waters
  • ORGANIZED: No - there is no natural shade
  • CROWD INFO: Secluded
  • WEATHER: Exposed to northern winds

Tips

  • Hanging on the big rock that splits the beach in two, there is the church of St. Peter (16th
    century)
