On the beach of Kalamia, next to the place where the triremes lined up in the ancient period, Bourou invites you to a unique delicious trip to the openness of Mediterranean cuisine and gastronomy. On the lead, Ms. Tasoula, with thirty years of experience, cares for the kitchen-cuisine and, with the help of her sons Antonis and Giorgos, a tireless crew, they are constantly looking for new tasteful destinations. Their safeguards are the authentic, mama`s flavors and quality products coming from Tinos land. Fresh vegetables, pure meat and dairy products from carefully selected local producers, herbs picked from the garden, tinian seeds and genuine Greek olive oil. Necessary stops: the shrimp casserole, mussels rice with raisins and pine nuts, rabbit soft meat with carrots and raisins and flavored with rosemary, the "Tinian soil" salad with local legumes and famous Tinian cheese, octopus in wine with caramelized onions, the fish soup (upon request) and of course, the handmade ice creams (with cherries from Falatados village or chopped orange sweet).
Bourou first opened in 1997 in Tinos and quickly established itself in the island's delicious tastes, opening new culinary streets thanks to the fresh, innovative ideas and the vision of Dimitris', the creator. Since 2014, the tavern has been transported to the new tasteful area of Kalamia (Spitalia), next to the new harbor, and Tasoula keeps on cooking with the same love, following the steps of her beloved brother, always being there for her customers and their tasteful wanderings!
Bourou awaits you in the morning for coffee and breakfast and stays open for lunch and supper until midnight. It has an entrance for disabled people, easy access and the place is also pet friendly.
